Giuseppe 'Joseph' Jacobelli
Joseph Jacobelli is the Founder and Managing Partner of Asia Clean Tech Investmentsand Bougie Impact Investment. Joseph has over 30 years of experience in Asia’s energy and capital markets and is passionate about the region's decarbonisation, energy transition, and sustainable finance.
At Bougie Impact Capital, Joseph manages a diversified portfolio comprised of chiefly Asian and European fixed income, equities, and real estate chiefly. At actE Investments, he provides intelligence and advice to corporations and institutions on clean energy projects direct investments in the Asia Pacific region as well as sustainability. actE Investments is a member of the Red Links sustainability consortium.
Joseph spent over 26 years as a financial analyst at several leading global investment banks, including Bear Stearns, HSBC, ING Barings, Merrill Lynch, and Nomura. There he led regional analysts’ teams, attained top rankings in Asiamoney, Greenwich, and Institutional Investor several times, and worked on several Initial Public Offerings. He then worked at Bloomberg Intelligence where he was instrumental in building its Asia operations and served as a team leader and regional research content leader, leveraging his expertise and contacts developed across Asia’s markets.
Joseph was also a senior executive at two energy corporations. As a group director at CLP Holdings, he gained broad execution expertise in alternative power and carbon transactions as well as clean tech investments. He led Asia project development and financing for green electricity focused start-up Cenfura.
Joseph regularly speaks at industry conferences and appears in broadcast, digital and print media, is the author of “Asia’s Energy Revolution – China’s Role and New Opportunities as Markets Transform and Digitalise” (De Gruyter, 2021), is an op-ed contributor to The Energy Industry Times, and hosts "The Asia Climate Finance Podcast".
Joseph studied Mandarin in the 1980s and received a Master’s in International Law from the National Taiwan University. He speaks English, French, Italian, and Mandarin as well as basic Cantonese, Japanese, and Portuguese.
